University of Jos Alumni Association has pledged its support to "Operation Beauty from Ashes" Campaign meant to raise funds and books for the renovation and re-stocking of the university's burnt library complex at the Naraguta Campus.
Yakubu Idris, the President of the University of Jos Alumni Association(UJAA), stated this during a courtesy call on the vice chancellor, Prof. Seddi S. Maimako, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof. Nelson Ochekpe, at the University 's Senate Chambers.
Yakubu Idris was accompanied to the ev ent by executives of the UJAA from the national and Plateau State Chapter.
He commended the University for the "Operation Beauty From Ashes" initiative to generate support and goodwill.
He pointed out that UJAA had wanted to build a lecture theatre and donate to to the university but with the fire incident a the library complex UJAA will channel its energy towards raising funds for the renovation of the Library building before embarking on another project.
Idris promised to reach out to alumni to donate to this project. "I assure management that we will do something substantial . The UJAA has opened an account with Skye Bank
for this purpose. The account name is UNIJOS Alumni Library Fire Intervention Fund", account NO: 1140116807.
